Usability Assurance and Testing is site user interface analysis which attempts to find any human-factor problems or from a user’s point of view. Usability testing is vital in testing the user experience which directly accounts for click-through rates, functionality, user experience and conversions. The testing generally includes ergonomic considerations, screen design, cross-browser compliance, standardization, user and crawler access, and so forth.
Usability encompasses many aspects of a website such as ease of learning, efficiency of use, memorability, error frequency and severity, and subject satisfaction. The cost of discovering a usability problem after page deployment is often high and you tend to leave the user with a poor view of the website and the company. Therefore, accurate knowledge of the usability of a given user interface will reduce such risks in later stages of development, conserving much money and effort and maximizing ROI. This is where usability assurance and testing comes into play.
Methods of usability assurance and testing include cross-platform experimentation, on-site observations to study users in their real environment, questionnaires to reveal detailed feedback from the user’s use of the system, and heuristic evaluation of the user interface to discover the critical problems at a relatively early stage.
